Clever Fruit Products (“Clever Fruit”) has signed a service agreement with the Perennia Innovation Center (“Perennia”) for its research and development services. The focus of this work will be on Clever Fruit’s proprietary fermentation process for its wild blueberry-based functional food ingredient.

Clever Fruit will work with Perennia in finalizing its productization from liquid to powder and develop a testing model to be used for future science studies. Clever Fruit will also utilize Perennia’s lab-to-lab services to scale its manufacturing model.

“Perennia is a critical resource in the local agri-tech and biotech ecosystem,” said Sean Sears, Executive Chair of Clever Fruit. “We are excited to be working with them to achieve this critical milestone.”

About Perennia Innovation Center:

About Clever Fruit Products:

Clever Fruit Products (“Clever Fruit”) is a functional food ingredients manufacturer targeting improved health outcomes. Clever Fruit’s technology is a unique approach to fermentation that draws out the full nutrient profile of the underlying fruit while creating new compounds. While Clever Fruit’s proprietary process can work with any fruit, its focus is on wild blueberry, apple, and cranberry. Its initial product is based on the wild blueberry and early trials suggest a potential to reduce cholesterol by 40% and reduce LDL oxidation, lowering the possibility of plaque formation in the arteries.
